VASRD 7811 · Skin Conditions
Lupus vulgaris is tuberculosis of the skin. The schedule lists it as "Tuberculosis luposa (lupus vulgaris), active or inactive," so the code covers the disease in either state. DC 7811 states no percentages of its own: its entire entry is the instruction "Rate under §§ 4.88c or 4.89, whichever is appropriate," so the evaluation comes from those sections rather than from anything in this code.
DC 7811 carries no rating criteria and no percentages. Its whole entry in § 4.118 is a routing instruction: "Rate under §§ 4.88c or 4.89, whichever is appropriate." It sits with the schedule's other tuberculosis entries that are routed the same way — tuberculous laryngitis (DC 6515), tuberculous pleurisy (DC 6732), and tuberculous adenitis (DC 7710) among them — and, like them, it is titled "active or inactive." What this means in practice is that the percentage is not drawn from the measures used elsewhere in the skin schedule: the General Rating Formula for the Skin, which sets the tiers for dermatitis (DC 7806), dermatophytosis (DC 7813), and the collagen-vascular skin conditions (DC 7821) on percentage of body area and duration of systemic therapy, is written for DCs 7806, 7809, 7813-7816, 7820-7822, and 7824 and does not include DC 7811.
