VASRD 5277 · Musculoskeletal
DC 5277 covers bilateral weak foot — muscle atrophy, disturbed circulation and weakness in both feet arising from an underlying constitutional condition. It is not really a stand-alone evaluation: the schedule says to rate the underlying condition and treats 10 percent as the minimum. Identifying that underlying condition is therefore the whole claim.

| 10% | Both feet are weak, with wasted muscle and poor circulation, because of an underlying condition — the underlying condition is what gets rated, and 10 percent is the floor. |
The schedule describes weak foot as a symptomatic condition secondary to many constitutional conditions, characterized by atrophy of the musculature, disturbed circulation, and weakness, and gives one instruction: rate the underlying condition, with a minimum rating of 10 percent. Two consequences follow. The evidence has to identify what is actually causing the weakness — a neurological condition, a muscle condition, or something systemic — because that is what supplies the evaluation. And the code as written is bilateral, so an exam documenting one foot does not describe the entity the code names.
