VASRD 7123 · Cardiovascular / Lymphatic System
DC 7123 covers soft tissue sarcoma of vascular origin — a cancer arising in blood vessel tissue. The code has one evaluation and one only: 100 percent. Its Note keeps that 100 percent in place beyond the end of any surgical, X-ray, antineoplastic chemotherapy or other therapeutic procedure, and sets a mandatory VA examination six months after that treatment is discontinued. If there has been no local recurrence or metastasis by then, the evaluation is made on the residuals that remain.

| 100% | A soft tissue sarcoma of vascular origin is rated 100 percent, and that rating continues through treatment. Six months after treatment stops, a mandatory VA examination decides the rating; if the cancer has not returned or spread, the rating moves to whatever residuals remain, and any reduction is protected by the § 3.105(e) procedure. |
DC 7123 has one criterion and one percentage: soft tissue sarcoma (of vascular origin) is evaluated at 100 percent. There are no lower bands and no measurements — nothing about the size or site of the tumor, and nothing about swelling, infections, or response to therapy. The code's Note governs everything that follows treatment. A rating of 100 percent continues beyond the cessation of any surgical, X-ray, antineoplastic chemotherapy or other therapeutic procedure. Six months after discontinuance of such treatment, the appropriate disability rating is determined by mandatory VA examination, and any change in evaluation based upon that or any subsequent examination is subject to the provisions of § 3.105(e). If there has been no local recurrence or metastasis, the evaluation is made on residuals. The code does not itself name which residuals or which codes they are evaluated under; what it fixes is the 100 percent while the disease is active and through treatment, the six-month mandatory examination once treatment stops, and the switch to residuals where there has been no local recurrence or metastasis.
